As Manager of New Product Risk, you will own the risk strategy and operating model for new products, starting with credit and payroll offerings. You'll build and manage day-to-day risk operations, ensuring timely, consistent, high-quality reviews as volumes scale. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll lead and develop your team through clear expectations, coaching, and ongoing feedback while managing staffing, capacity, and service levels.
Key responsibilities include partnering with Product, Engineering, and other teams early in product development to identify risks and design controls; analyzing product, customer, and transaction data to understand performance and uncover emerging risks; developing and optimizing risk rules and strategies; defining and monitoring metrics across losses, customer friction, decision quality, and operational efficiency; building scalable procedures and workflows; investigating operational failures and translating findings into improvements; and evaluating external tools and vendors.
You'll communicate strategies and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, transition mature products into long-term operating models, and leverage AI tools to improve analysis, investigations, and team workflows.
Required: 4+ years in fraud risk, credit risk, risk strategy, transaction monitoring, or risk operations (preferably fintech, banking, or payments); 2+ years leading people or complex cross-functional initiatives; meaningful credit risk experience; SQL proficiency for independent data analysis; experience building new products or risk programs from zero to one; strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution; understanding of transaction and money-movement risks (ACH, cards, wires, checks); analytical mindset; strong communication skills; cross-functional collaboration ability; comfort in fast-paced, ambiguous environments; and active use of AI tools.
Bonus: payroll risk or ACH operations experience; SMB credit, commercial cards, or lending product experience; Python proficiency; bank partnership experience; fraud/identity/credit-risk vendor evaluation experience; startup or scale-up background.
