Clio is seeking a Manager of Legal Architecture for its SMB segment to build and lead a new, high-visibility team within the Sales organization. This is a player-coach role managing six Legal Architects—former practicing lawyers—who embed in the sales motion to secure legal credibility in deals, deliver tailored product demonstrations, and elevate legal fluency across the broader sales organization. You will lead a team covering Velocity, Strategic, Mid Market, and Government segments, responsible for hiring, coaching, and developing Legal Architects; setting coverage strategy; managing team capacity; and building the operating model for this expanding function. You'll stay hands-on by personally leading select strategic accounts, marquee product launches, and thought leadership initiatives to maintain your edge and model excellence. Key responsibilities include: building and growing the team with clear culture and career paths; owning the coverage model to balance high-touch deals with scalable enablement; managing capacity against demand; staying involved in the hardest legal and technical objections; scaling enablement programs (standardized demos, playbooks, practice-area content) across the sales organization; translating field insights into product direction; and running the function through forecasting, pipeline reviews, and quality assurance. You bring a Juris Doctor with practicing legal experience, demonstrated people leadership (ideally in go-to-market, sales, consulting, or legal tech), a strong customer-facing track record in discovery and high-stakes negotiations, and a sophisticated understanding of AI applications in legal work. Exceptional communication, emotional intelligence, and comfort building in ambiguity are essential. You report to the Director of Legal Architecture. The role is based in Chicago with a preference for candidates in or willing to relocate to Vancouver or Toronto (Clio hub cities). US-based remote candidates are also considered. Your team will include remote US-based members, but in-person collaboration with Sales leadership in hub cities is expected.
