Anthropic is seeking a Manager, Infrastructure Capex Accounting to lead day-to-day accounting for the company's owned infrastructure assets—GPUs, networking equipment, and data center buildouts supporting a $50bn investment in American computing infrastructure. This role sits at the heart of one of the fastest-scaling AI companies, responsible for ensuring operational scalability and financial accuracy of core functions enabling Anthropic's research and commercial success.
You will own end-to-end accounting for Anthropic's capex and fixed asset portfolio, working closely with Data Center Operations, Finance, and Legal teams. Key responsibilities include monthly close processes, construction-in-progress (CIP) tracking, reconciliations, roll-forwards, and flux analysis. You'll apply deep technical accounting expertise under ASC 360 (capitalization, useful lives, impairment, disposals, asset retirement obligations) to complex infrastructure arrangements.
You will partner with cross-functional teams during contract negotiation and execution to ensure accounting implications are understood before commitments are made. You'll serve as a trusted finance partner to non-finance stakeholders, explaining financial statement impacts in clear, actionable terms. You'll collaborate to improve upstream data pipelines from operational and contract systems, particularly around asset receipt, deployment, and in-service dates.
Additionally, you will help design and scale systems, processes, and controls to support a rapidly growing fixed asset portfolio, mentor junior accounting professionals on the Infrastructure Accounting team, serve as a key contact with external auditors on fixed asset matters, and drive process improvements and automation using AI tooling.
Required: 7+ years progressive accounting experience at technology or infrastructure-heavy companies; Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred); strong ASC 360 technical knowledge; hands-on experience with significant fixed asset portfolios in high-growth environments; analytical abilities with large datasets; track record of improving scalable financial processes; mentoring experience; ability to translate technical accounting into business implications; clear communication and cross-functional influence; experience partnering with engineering/infrastructure teams.
Preferred: hyperscaler or data center operator experience; fixed asset subledger systems at scale; SQL proficiency; Big 4 accounting/advisory background; complex data center buildout experience; AI/ML infrastructure knowledge; experience applying AI tools to accounting processes; ability to navigate ambiguity in rapidly changing environments.
