Chainalysis is seeking a Manager, Global Payroll to lead and operate the company's US payroll and global Employer of Record (EOR) operations. This is a hands-on people leadership role combining individual contributor work with team management.
You will oversee payroll execution across multiple countries and employee populations, managing relationships with providers including ADP, Deel, Workday, Bswift, and Fidelity. Key responsibilities include owning payroll calendars, processing cycles, tax compliance, vendor management, and controls. You'll personally participate in payroll processing, reconciliations, and complex issue resolution while managing a team of Payroll Specialists through coaching, feedback, and career development.
The role requires coordinating payroll tax administration, managing data feeds from HRIS and benefits systems, investigating discrepancies, and partnering cross-functionally with People, Finance, Controllership, and senior leadership to resolve issues and improve processes. You'll establish clear expectations for quality, timeliness, and escalation while building scalable operating practices through documentation and process improvement.
Required qualifications include 5+ years of payroll experience with meaningful US payroll ownership and demonstrated leadership or transformation experience. You need hands-on experience processing US payroll (preferably ADP Workforce Now), knowledge of US payroll tax administration and compliance, experience with global EOR or multi-country operations, and prior people-management experience. Strong analytical skills, cross-functional partnership abilities, and attention to detail are essential. Experience with payroll integrations involving Workday, benefits platforms, and other HR technologies is required.
Nice-to-have qualifications include payroll certification (CPP or equivalent), experience building cross-training and succession practices, background in high-growth or rapidly changing organizations, and experience automating payroll processes.
