Recursion Pharmaceuticals seeks a Manager of Computational Biology to lead a team of data scientists and computational biologists in early-stage oncology drug discovery. This is a hybrid role based in New York or Salt Lake City, combining 50% people management with 50% hands-on technical contribution. You will direct a team focused on leveraging Recursion's massive datasets—phenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and genomics—to nominate novel cancer targets, validate disease biology, and define precision oncology strategies. Key responsibilities include leading target discovery analyses, developing biomarker and patient-stratification strategies, collaborating with platform and engineering teams to productionalize analytical tools, and presenting data packages to internal and external stakeholders. As a "player-coach," you will mentor team members while maintaining significant individual contribution on complex data integration projects. You'll work cross-functionally with biologists, medicinal chemists, and clinical leads to drive program milestones and investment decisions across the oncology portfolio. Required qualifications: PhD in a quantitative field (Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Cancer Biology) with 5+ years in biotech/pharma, OR MS with 7+ years industry experience. You must have proven people management experience, deep oncology domain expertise (including biomarker discovery and patient stratification), expertise in analyzing and integrating multiple 'omics data modalities, advanced Python or R proficiency, and excellent cross-functional communication skills. Experience with patient genetics, historical druggability assessment, and high-dimensional data visualization is essential.
