OpenAI's Technical Success team is seeking a Manager to build and lead a high-performing team of Applied AI Engineers supporting enterprise customers across Southeast Asia. This role combines people leadership with deep technical judgment to help customers realize sustained value from frontier AI capabilities.
You will own the technical success of a strategically important customer portfolio, accountable for solution design, production implementation, and organization-wide adoption. Key responsibilities include building and developing a team of Applied AI Engineers, establishing operating models for account prioritization, serving as a senior technical escalation point during critical launches and production incidents, and translating customer needs into actionable product feedback.
The role requires coaching engineers through complex architecture and evaluation decisions, partnering with customer executives to connect implementation decisions to measurable business outcomes, and collaborating across Sales, Solutions Engineering, Product, Research, Engineering, Security, and Legal. You will develop reusable architectures, evaluation methods, playbooks, and enablement that improve time to value across the enterprise portfolio, while establishing mechanisms for measuring production implementations, adoption, customer outcomes, and team capacity.
Ideal candidates have significant experience managing customer-facing technical teams (Applied AI Engineers, Solutions Architects, Forward Deployed Engineers, or similar roles), have built or led teams implementing complex software, ML, or AI systems in enterprise environments, and maintain sufficient technical depth to evaluate architectures and coach engineers through difficult decisions. You should have experience taking AI systems from prototype to production, understand production-system requirements including reliability, observability, security, and data governance, and have led teams through ambiguity and rapidly evolving markets.
You will demonstrate strong executive presence, build trust with engineering leaders and business executives, design operating models and coverage strategies for growing technical organizations, and care deeply about developing people. The role is based in Singapore with a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week. Relocation assistance is available.
