Distro is seeking a dedicated Litigation Attorney to join its team in Plantation, Florida. This full-time position focuses on advocating for children suspected of having disabilities and those already identified as having disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and applicable Florida laws.
The attorney will represent both community families and children involved in the foster care system, helping ensure they receive the educational services, accommodations, and support they are entitled to under the law. You will manage a large caseload, work independently while contributing as a collaborative team member, and maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.
The ideal candidate brings litigation experience and a background in children's law, education, psychology, the medical field, or related disciplines. You will demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the needs of underserved and vulnerable populations.
Qualifications:
• Active membership in the Florida Bar
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
• Ability to manage a large caseload effectively
• Ability to work independently while also contributing as a collaborative team member
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the needs of underserved and vulnerable populations
• Ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations
• Litigation experience and background in children's law, education, psychology, medical field, or related disciplines
