Salary: EUR 128,000 - 173,000 / annual
FalconX is a pioneering institutional crypto trading platform operating at the intersection of traditional finance and digital assets. The company provides comprehensive solutions for digital asset strategies, serving as connective infrastructure for clients navigating the cryptocurrency landscape.
You will lead and oversee the Compliance function for FalconX's Malta-based crypto trading business in a hands-on leadership role. This is a strategic and operational position requiring direct engagement with the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), expertise in EU regulatory frameworks under MiCA, and the ability to mentor a lean compliance team while balancing advisory work with direct execution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading all regulatory matters including audits, exams, onsite inspections, regulatory reporting, and ongoing dialogue with the MFSA, FIAU, and EU agencies
- Overseeing the firm's MiCA licensing and transition processes, ensuring CASP/VFA policies, product features, and operational controls align with EU regulatory standards
- Owning and executing the compliance program, board reporting, and internal policy registers
- Pragmatically resolving legacy compliance issues while delivering commercially minded advice to enable business growth
- Guiding, mentoring, and setting standards for a team of 3–4 compliance professionals
This is an agile, scale-up environment where you will take full ownership of regulatory governance and risk remediation without reliance on heavy administrative infrastructure.
REQUIREMENTS:
- MFSA Approved Status: Prior MFSA Personal Questionnaire (PQ) approval and successful completion of regulatory interviews (mandatory)
- Regulatory Track Record: Direct experience managing supervisory interactions and engagement with the MFSA (mandatory)
- Location: Current residency in Malta or immediate willingness to relocate (mandatory)
- Preferred: Practical experience with MiCA transitions, CASP/VFA frameworks, crypto-assets, fintech, or payment institutions
- Preferred: Proven "builder mentality" with preference for direct execution in scale-up environments
- Preferred: Demonstrated ability to resolve complex legacy compliance issues pragmatically
