Salary: EUR 70,000 - 90,000 / annual
Via is a mobility technology company revolutionizing transportation globally through shared, dynamic, and public mobility solutions. As Payroll Manager (Leiter:in Entgeltabrechnung) for Via Deutschland, you will lead the entire payroll process for 900+ hourly employees in the region, managing everything from data preparation and maintenance to monthly financial reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Steering the monthly payroll process for Via Germany in close collaboration with the external payroll partner, working across Finance, HR, and Operations teams to ensure accurate and timely processing
- Monitoring changes in German tax and social insurance law to maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Conducting regular audits of payroll data and developing process improvements and internal controls to enhance accuracy and efficiency
- Ensuring correct calculation and timely reporting of social benefits deductions and taxes
- Leading the monthly financial reporting process related to payroll, from journal entries to general ledger reconciliation
- Supporting escalated payroll inquiries that the support team cannot resolve independently
Required qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in German payroll administration, including experience with hourly and shift-based employees
- Technical proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., P&I, Loga) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Precise, independent, and reliable work style with ability to manage complex datasets
- Proactive mindset to question existing processes and propose efficiency improvements
- Strong communication skills in German and English, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across organizational levels
