Material Bank, the world's largest material marketplace for architecture and design professionals operating in 37 countries, is seeking a senior Privacy & Product Counsel to join its legal team as the company's second lawyer. This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role combining legal expertise with business acumen. You will lead Material Bank's data privacy strategy and compliance efforts across CCPA, GDPR, and emerging international privacy regimes. Responsibilities include owning privacy notices, advising on data collection and retention practices, conducting privacy impact assessments, and supporting incident response protocols. You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Sales, and People teams throughout the product development lifecycle, providing practical legal guidance on new features, consent workflows, data collection mechanisms, user agreements, and regulatory requirements. You'll advise the Marketing team on consumer protection, advertising, endorsements, promotions, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and FTC compliance. You'll draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including customer and vendor contracts, data processing terms, NDAs, marketing and sponsorship agreements, technology agreements, and strategic partnerships. A key part of this role involves building legal operations infrastructure—developing templates, playbooks, contract management systems, and workflows that enable a small legal team to scale effectively. You'll leverage AI and legal technology to automate repetitive work and improve service delivery. This role requires strong legal judgment, a practical business-oriented mindset, and comfort working outside your immediate expertise in a fast-moving environment. You'll provide guidance on matters spanning privacy, product, marketing, commercial contracts, and general corporate issues.
