FlixBus is seeking a Legal Counsel to secure the legal and regulatory foundations for operations and growth across the Croatian and Serbian markets. The role focuses on building stakeholder relationships with transport authorities and shaping the company's regional strategy.
Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, legal agreements, and administrative filings related to FlixBus operations and authorizations in Croatia and Serbia. You will provide structured legal guidance and opinions to internal stakeholders on regulatory and contractual matters, and monitor legislative and regulatory developments in both markets to assess business impact and proactively share updates with the team.
A significant portion of the role involves building and maintaining strategic relationships with governmental, political, and industry stakeholders, acting as a key interface to central, regional, and local transport authorities. You will prepare, apply for, and obtain permissions and line concessions needed to operate regular bus lines, and lead modifications to existing or new lines across both markets. This includes optimizing the authorization process for line authorizations and bus stops to secure timely approvals from public authorities.
Additional responsibilities include managing station-related agreements, identifying new bus stop opportunities, and negotiating optimal locations with regional authorities. You will collaborate closely with external law firms and cross-functional teams including Operations, Marketing, Network Planning, and Pricing.
The ideal candidate holds a university degree in Law with 3–5 years of proven experience in legal counsel, public administration, or a related role. Sound knowledge of Croatian civil and administrative law is essential; knowledge of transport regulations or public procurement rules is a plus. You should have hands-on experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and administrative documentation, with the ability to work autonomously, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and coordinate effectively with team members and external partners. A structured and proactive working style with strong attention to detail is required, along with the ability to independently identify legal and operational risks and propose mitigation strategies. Fluency in Croatian and English is mandatory.
