Clara, the fastest-growing fintech in Latin America, is seeking a Legal & Compliance Expert to strengthen its Brazil operations. This is a high-impact individual contributor role for professionals with solid experience in corporate legal, regulatory compliance, or both.
You will own complex legal and compliance matters end-to-end, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and help build scalable processes supported by AI. Key responsibilities include:
• Lead corporate legal, governance, and regulatory compliance matters for Clara's Brazil operations
• Manage corporate records, resolutions, powers of attorney, statutory filings, capital changes, and intercompany arrangements
• Draft, review, and negotiate strategic commercial, technology, vendor, confidentiality, and partnership agreements
• Monitor regulatory developments and translate requirements into actionable policies, procedures, and controls
• Execute AML/CFT, KYC/KYB, and enhanced due diligence activities for complex corporate structures, UBOs, PEPs, and sanctions screening
• Analyze higher-risk cases and present documented recommendations for approval, remediation, rejection, or escalation
• Support external audits, regulatory interactions, and remediation plans
• Lead privacy and data protection initiatives, including LGPD compliance across products and operations
• Contribute to ESG compliance agenda, including governance, policies, risk assessments, and reporting controls
• Act as strategic advisor to Product, Operations, Finance, People, Sales, Risk, Fraud, Engineering, and Data teams
• Support new products, vendors, and strategic initiatives by identifying requirements, risks, and implementation steps
• Coordinate complex initiatives with internal stakeholders and external counsel
• Build templates, playbooks, approval flows, and knowledge management systems to scale Legal and Compliance functions
• Use AI and workflow automation to streamline legal research, document review, regulatory monitoring, and reporting while maintaining confidentiality and auditability
