Rainmaker is pioneering a modern cloud seeding system to address water scarcity and inclement weather. The company develops radar validation, weather-resistant unmanned aerial systems (UAS), numerical weather modeling, and sustainable cloud seeds into an integrated precipitation enhancement solution.
As Lead, UAV Integration Technician, you will lead the Production team's integration efforts, overseeing the assembly, integration, and quality assurance of UAS platforms and their payloads. You'll be responsible for keeping the fleet mission-ready by executing maintenance and assembly work with precision and speed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinate and sequence build tasks across the integration team to meet production schedules and delivery deadlines
- Oversee full UAV assembly from components to complete systems, ensuring quality and workmanship standards
- Draft, standardize, and maintain assembly work instructions, wiring diagrams, and integration checklists
- Set and enforce electrical integration quality standards, including wiring harness construction and troubleshooting
- Surface recurring issues, design flaws, and integration challenges to engineering and program stakeholders
- Train and develop integration technicians, onboarding new staff and building cross-functional mechanical/electrical expertise
- Establish and enforce incoming parts inspection and final assembly QA processes
- Identify process inefficiencies, lead improvement initiatives, and capture lessons learned to scale production
- Coordinate with supply chain on parts availability and oversee tooling, 3D printers, machining equipment, and shop resources
- Act as escalation point for technical, resourcing, or scheduling blockers
- Enforce shop safety procedures and best practices across the team
This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment where your work directly impacts mission success. You'll travel to support field operations and flight testing.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years hands-on experience in UAV, aerospace, robotics, or similar mechanical/electrical maintenance environments
- 3+ years experience leading a technician team
- Strong mechanical assembly and electrical integration experience
- Ability to read, interpret, and create technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics
- Proven troubleshooting of complex mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience writing or improving work instructions, build procedures, or assembly documentation
- Willingness to travel and support field operations and flight testing
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship with judgment to enforce quality standards
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate work across multiple technicians in fast-paced, evolving environment
- Strong communication skills to translate field/build issues into clear feedback for engineering and leadership
- Comfortable taking ownership of team output and driving accountability
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Familiarity with basic shop safety procedures and experience enforcing safety standards for a team
PREFERRED:
- Familiarity with 3D printers
- Experience with torque drivers, power supplies, multimeters, and diagnostic/hand tools
- Experience machining on 3 and 5 axis machines
- Experience with root cause analysis or corrective action processes
- Familiarity with production tracking, quality management, or maintenance documentation systems
- Experience scaling or standardizing processes in early-stage or high-growth manufacturing environment
