Salary: USD 140,000 - 170,000 / annual
Skyryse is hiring a Lead Technical Writer to own technical documentation from development through product launch for its SkyOS aviation safety platform. You will work cross-functionally with engineers, project managers, pilots, and stakeholders to architect, create, edit, and publish technical documentation including operating manuals, maintenance manuals, and training materials.
Key responsibilities include:
- Interact cross-functionally with engineers, project managers, pilots, and stakeholders to architect, create, edit, and publish technical documentation such as operating and maintenance manuals, training materials, and more
- Support documentation alignment with version control software, release systems, and Docs-as-Code workflows to manage overall documentation quality
- Develop clear and concise documentation to reduce the probability of future errors, working with stakeholders to understand user needs
- Gather feedback and consider all relevant data to improve existing and future documentation
- Support organizing, coordinating, and tracking documentation tasks to align with both team and company-wide goals
This is a full-time, in-office role based in El Segundo, CA. The company is focused on making aviation safer and more accessible through advanced flight control technology.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Communications, STEM, or related field
- 5+ years of technical writing experience
- 2+ years of experience in the aerospace industry
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
Preferred qualifications:
- Familiarity with FAA technical publication standards, aviation documentation guidance, and industry specifications (Advisory Circulars, GAMA Guidance, ATA specifications)
- Experience working at a startup
- Product launch / full lifecycle experience
- Proficiency with Git, Asciidoctor, VS Code, and Docs-as-Code authoring workflows
- Experience using Python and Ruby to support documentation automation, publishing workflows, and custom Docs-as-Code tooling
- Experience creating and editing technical illustrations from CAD/3D model data using Adobe Illustrator, SolidWorks Composer, or similar tools
- Portfolio of writing samples
