As Lead Product Manager for Banking Payments, you will drive the global strategy and execution for core payment services across India, the UK, and Europe. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on building and scaling the payment infrastructure that enables SMEs to send, receive, clear, and reconcile money globally.
Key responsibilities include:
• Develop and execute the end-to-end product vision for banking payments, covering local and international rails, multi-currency accounts, and local IBANs aligned with global business objectives.
• Lead cross-functional, agile teams through the product development lifecycle, including transaction lifecycle mapping, technical specifications, database design, event-driven architecture, and API design.
• Own discovery and solution design for money-movement controls, clearing, settlement, financial ledgers, and safeguarding/reconciliation mechanics.
• Engage with the banking and fintech ecosystem (Central Banks, clearing houses, BaaS partners, Open Banking infrastructure) to identify next-generation payment opportunities.
• Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams to ensure all payment features adhere to FCA/PRA, EMI, and local central bank regulatory guidelines, proactively mitigating fraud and transaction risks.
• Optimize revenue drivers across the payment flywheel (interchange, FX markups, premium features, data enrichment) while collaborating with Finance on quarterly forecasting.
• Define and track product KPIs and OKRs (activation, transaction velocity, liquidity, exception rates, processing costs) to drive continuous optimization.
Required qualifications:
• 8+ years of Product Management experience focused on core banking systems, payment rails, clearing/settlement infrastructure, or electronic money institutions (EMIs).
• Deep technical understanding of global and local payment mechanics including SEPA, Faster Payments, UPI, SWIFT, and Open Banking/PSD2 frameworks.
• Technical fluency with API design, transaction logging, race conditions, and edge cases in high-throughput core systems.
• Strong understanding of financial ledgers, double-entry accounting, and reconciliation mechanics.
• Experience navigating complex regulatory environments (FCA, PRA, EMI regulations, local central bank requirements).
You will work hand-in-hand with senior leaders, backend engineers, data scientists, compliance officers, and risk experts to architect, build, and optimize the payment core.
