SafelyYou is an AI-driven company transforming senior living care through fall detection, mobility monitoring, and clinical decision support. Founded in 2015 from UC Berkeley's AI Research Lab, the company combines world-leading AI, specialized hardware, and remote expert clinicians to improve resident outcomes while reducing costs for communities.
As Product Manager for the AI & Intelligence Platform, you will own the AI capability roadmap as a reusable platform layer. Your AI models and signals power all customer-facing products; you bridge research and production, ensuring models ship in short cycles while managing longer research bets. You'll work alongside AI research leadership (who set research direction) and customer-facing PMs (who own customer outcomes), focusing on what the AI can do, how well it performs, and its operational cost.
Key ownership areas:
- AI-readiness gates for every model release (accuracy, false alarms, review cost, rollback criteria)
- Measurable quality improvements and cost reduction in detection systems
- Cross-team capability reuse and research-to-production decision gates
- One unified capability roadmap spanning edge and cloud deployments, ranked by leverage
- Model consumption patterns: outputs, confidence thresholds, latency and accuracy expectations
- Field performance tracking from research through shadow deployment to production (precision, recall, drift)
- Human review economics and feedback loops with clinical reviewers
- Research milestone planning for 6–12 month bets and data prioritization
- Emerging AI techniques (vision-language models, multimodal systems, agentic systems, on-device models) and their applicability to care settings
- Cross-functional collaboration with Hardware & Sensing on new sensing modalities
You'll drive measurable outcomes: model readiness gates within one year, quality/cost improvements, at least one reused capability across two product teams, and one research bet brought to a clear continue-or-stop decision.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years leading ML or computer vision products taken to production and operated at scale
- Fluency in modern AI/ML: computer vision, multimodal and vision-language models, evaluation methodologies; credible with researchers and ML engineers
- Deep understanding of how newer AI techniques have emerged (foundation models, vision-language models, agentic systems, efficient on-device models) with clear perspective on their application in care settings
- Experience deploying models under real-world constraints (on-device compute, latency vs. accuracy tradeoffs)
- Evidence-driven mindset: design evaluations, run shadow deployments, balance open-ended research with commercial commitments
- Strongly preferred: human-in-the-loop systems, non-optical sensing, or safety-critical AI in healthcare
- Note: Engineers who transitioned into product are welcome to apply
