Still Bright is commercializing RACER (Rapid and Complete Electrochemical Reduction), a proprietary hydrometallurgical process that offers a viable alternative to traditional copper smelting. The company is backed by top-tier investors including Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Material Impact, and is scaling from pilot execution toward commercial deployment.
As Lead Process Modeling Engineer, you own the digital backbone of Still Bright's commercial strategy. Reporting to the VP of Commercialization and collaborating closely with the CTO, you will architect and evolve the integrated modeling ecosystem: a high-fidelity SysCAD digital twin, in-house techno-economic analysis (TEA), and life-cycle assessment (LCA). This system translates process decisions into defensible cost, energy, and recovery projections that prove Still Bright's value proposition to customers and investors.
Key responsibilities include: owning the SysCAD process model and commercial-scale architecture; building and maintaining the TEA/LCA framework and sensitivity/Monte-Carlo analysis; developing customer-specific value propositions by transforming feedstock data into economic and environmental projections; modeling electrochemical unit operations (electrolyzers, electrowinning) with rigorous thermodynamic speciation; reconciling model outputs against lab and pilot data to close mass and energy balances; building a proprietary feedstock-to-process tool that ingests mineralogical data and optimizes process configuration; ensuring all modeling work is version-controlled, documented, and reproducible; and leading junior process modeling engineers while maintaining modeling priorities and architecture.
You will work directly with global mining companies, support grant applications, and collaborate with the R&D team to guide process improvements. Success in the first 12 months means full ownership of modeling/TEA/LCA architecture, delivery of 5+ customer-specific value propositions, advancement of the feedstock-to-process tool, calibration of models against bench/pilot data, and transparent documentation trusted by customers, investors, and regulators.
