Salary: USD 174,000 - 230,000 / annual

You will be Atticus's first in-house Data Engineer, owning and evolving the core data infrastructure as the function grows within Engineering. This is an early, high-impact role where you'll shape processes, standards, and team culture from the ground up.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning and operating the data warehouse, pipelines, and transformation layer
- Designing, building, and maintaining scalable, reliable data pipelines that ingest data from the platform and third-party sources
- Partnering with data scientists, analysts, and product leaders to deliver clean, well-documented datasets and optimize query performance
- Incrementally improving and modernizing existing data systems—assessing current infrastructure, prioritizing improvements, and executing thoughtful migrations
- Implementing data quality monitoring, alerting, and documentation practices to build organizational trust
You'll sit at the intersection of Engineering and Business Operations, translating business needs into well-designed data products while ensuring systems are reliable and scalable.
Required qualifications: 4+ years of professional data engineering experience at high-growth startups or fast-moving teams; hands-on proficiency with BigQuery (or comparable cloud warehouse), dbt, and orchestration tools like Dagster or Airflow; strong SQL and fluency in Golang, Python, or similar languages; track record of iteratively improving or modernizing data systems; strong communication and collaboration across technical and business teams.
Bonus experience includes transitioning data infrastructure from outsourced/contractor models to in-house teams, familiarity with data observability tools, and experience supporting data science functions including ML feature pipelines.
