The Lead Analytics Engineer owns the design, delivery, and evolution of the Lending data product on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Looker, bridging analytics, data engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, well-governed data models.
This role combines hands-on technical delivery with leadership of an analytics engineering squad. You will set standards for data modelling, validation, and usage across the Lending domain, ensuring data models accurately reflect lending business logic and support reporting, decision-making, and emerging AI-driven use cases.
Key responsibilities include owning and evolving the Lending data model across BigQuery and Looker; delivering standardised, scalable data models (gold and semantic layers); defining and implementing best practices for analytics engineering (modelling, naming, documentation, testing); leading design and code reviews; acting as subject matter expert on Lending data structures; leading the GCP and Looker data workstream including sprint planning and prioritisation; translating business requirements into structured engineering tasks; partnering with Lending, Risk, Product, and Engineering teams to define data requirements; providing technical mentorship to analysts and engineers; and contributing to strategic initiatives like the unified Lending data model and metadata/definitions for self-serve analytics and GenAI use cases.
You should have strong SQL and data modelling experience (BigQuery or similar preferred), experience with BI semantic layers (Looker preferred), proven ability to design and deliver scalable data models, strong understanding of data flows across complex systems (particularly lending or financial services), ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions, experience leading technical workstreams or projects, ability to mentor and develop team members, and a strong ownership mindset.
