Chime's Financial Crimes team protects millions of members from money laundering, fraud, and organized networks targeting consumer financial platforms. Operating in a bank-partner model, the team runs detection and investigation while escalating unusual activity to bank partners who hold filing obligations. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on setting standards and owning the hardest problems end-to-end. You will operate with minimal direction on ambiguous problems, define your own approach, and set quality standards that others calibrate to. You'll move work across team boundaries without formal authority and represent Financial Crimes to external partners. Key responsibilities include: **Vendor Management & Quality**: Lead and support a team of analysts. Sample operations work, run calibration with partners, monitor QA trends, and maintain quality and productivity expectations. **Risk Trend Analysis**: Understand AML and fraud risks deeply enough to follow patterns of unusual activity across accounts, devices, funding sources, counterparties, and behavioral patterns. Present network analysis in ways non-investigators understand. **Typology Development**: Document new and evolving schemes, make them teachable to the wider team, identify coverage gaps, and own creation of new coverage with partners. **Operational Rollout**: Design how new typologies go live—routing, procedures, evidence standards, and quality checks—before alerts land. **Procedures & Documentation**: Own SOPs for your area, keeping them clear enough that third parties could understand operations cold. **Audit & Exam Readiness**: Prepare operations for internal audit, independent testing, and bank partner reviews. Own remediation of findings through closure. You'll raise the ceiling of people around you through calibration, coaching, documentation, and example-setting. Every hard investigation should leave behind something reusable: a control, procedure, detection change, or documented typology. Required: 7+ years in financial crime, fraud, or risk investigations at a bank, fintech, payments company, or comparable regulated environment. Working command of BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC requirements, and unusual/suspicious activity reporting. Deep experience with transaction monitoring alert lifecycle at real volume. Real typology depth across money laundering and fraud (mule networks, money movement, first-party fraud, synthetic/stolen identity, scams, elder exploitation). Hands-on scenario tuning or threshold work with data/risk partners. Experience overseeing vendor or outsourced investigation teams. Judgment under volume and comfort with sustained ambiguity. Advanced SQL and fluency with graph/link analysis tooling. CAMS, CFE, or equivalent certification preferred.
