OpenAI's Site Readiness & Development team is seeking a Site Selection Lead to own the site-selection strategy for powered-land and greenfield/brownfield infrastructure opportunities. This role is responsible for defining what makes a site attractive, executable, and scalable across priority geographies, then translating that vision into portfolio choices and deployment plans. Key responsibilities include: owning site-selection strategy across priority markets with market maps, pipeline segmentation, and live-location tracking; convening cross-functional partners (Power, Land, Development, Engineering, Construction, Environmental, Community, Commercial, Legal, Finance) to establish shared rubrics for high-quality sites; translating rubrics into clear screening criteria covering power readiness, land control, timing, scale, cost, community risk, environmental constraints, AHJ path, budget, schedule, and counterparty credibility; orchestrating Commercial, Legal, Finance, Power, and Development teams to shape exclusivity, initial terms, site-control strategy, and deployment paths; building deployment plans for top candidates identifying capacity, sequencing, capital implications, critical-path approvals, risks, and stage-gate decisions; leading conceptual site planning and test-fit screening using mapping, boundaries, buildings, substations, utilities, and acreage analysis; maintaining a single decision-support view of pipeline stage, site health, power readiness, finance review, and escalations; and presenting executive-ready recommendations with clear trade-offs and next steps. The ideal candidate brings 6+ years in site selection, infrastructure development, data center development, energy development, commercial real estate, or related fields. Strong strategic judgment on market intelligence, portfolio construction, site viability, and prioritization is essential. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional organizations through ambiguous decisions and align technical, commercial, legal, and finance stakeholders is required. Commercial and financial fluency to connect site quality, deal terms, capital implications, schedule, and deployment risk is critical. Experience building site funnels, screening frameworks, mapping workflows, dashboards, and executive decision materials is highly valued.
