Hologram is building the backbone of IoT connectivity, processing over 5 billion transactions per month globally. The Lead Accountant will own the execution layer of the accounting function, reporting to the Associate Controller and running recurring close and reconciliation workstreams end-to-end with light oversight. Key responsibilities include: **Close and Reporting:** Execute the monthly close including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and GAAP financial statements. Prepare revenue recognition support under ASC 606 across usage, hardware, and prepaid billing models, surfacing exceptions early. Prepare supporting schedules for annual audits, corporate tax filings, and diligence requests. Manage Secretary of State annual reports, franchise tax, and local business licenses in partnership with a registered agent. Intake, log, and resolve state and local tax notices with direct agency contact. Coordinate annual business insurance renewals and issue certificates of insurance. Complete statutory annual filings and surveys. Run point on the yearly external audit. Document all work with runbooks for recurring obligations. **Billing, AR, and Cash:** Own collections end-to-end including AR aging, dunning, billing contact follow-up, and at-risk account escalation. Generate customer invoices across Stripe and Shopify, managing billing schedules, credit memos, and adjustments. Manage prepaid top-ups, renewals, and conversions. Execute daily cash application and bank reconciliation across Stripe, wire, and ACH. Process and route AP invoices, chase missing vendor invoices ahead of close, and keep billing records current. Resolve complex multi-team billing disputes and triage finance tickets within a 24-hour SLA. **Process and Systems:** Identify manual work that shouldn't be manual and fix it using available tools and AI. Support NetSuite implementation and ongoing optimization. The ideal candidate values tenacious ownership, thrives on building systems rather than just running them, and relentlessly pursues growth. You'll have visibility into how the business runs and enjoy a wide range of work in a small, fast-moving finance team. **Requirements:** - 6+ years of progressive accounting experience - Experience owning full-cycle month-end close - Strong understanding of GAAP with hands-on experience in revenue recognition, leases, and credit losses - Experience in a startup or high-growth environment where you built processes rather than inherited them - Comfortable owning a wide range of work rather than one narrow lane - Revenue recognition experience (ASC 606) in a usage-based or multi-element billing environment - Multi-state compliance experience: Secretary of State filings, franchise tax, and state and local tax notices - Experience supporting an external financial statement audit as a preparer - Experience making accounting processes faster and more reliable through automation and AI without compromising controls or accuracy - Produces work that holds up without rework, catching your own errors before they reach review - Advanced Excel and comfort learning new systems quickly **Bonus Points:** - Collections or billing experience at a SaaS or usage-based company - ERP implementation or migration experience (NetSuite preferred) - Experience standing up a compliance calendar or corporate compliance function
