You will own the employee technology lifecycle as a hands-on IT Systems Engineer. Your core responsibilities include:
**Employee Lifecycle & Onboarding:** Manage end-to-end onboarding, role changes, and offboarding. Coordinate equipment provisioning, account creation, group memberships, application access, and employee communication. Verify new hires can actually work on day one.
**Identity & Integration:** Build and maintain SCIM provisioning, single sign-on (SAML, OAuth/OIDC), and attribute mappings across HR systems (Rippling), identity providers, Google Workspace, and business applications. Troubleshoot failed syncs, account mismatches, timing dependencies, and licensing blockers. Handle exceptions for last-minute hires and applications without automated provisioning support.
**Automation & Scripting:** Reduce manual IT work using native integrations, workflow tools, APIs, webhooks, and practical scripting. Ensure automation is documented, observable, and maintainable by others.
**Device Management:** Coordinate purchasing, enrollment, configuration, security updates, inventory, and returns in a Mac-centric environment. Emphasize low-friction user experience.
**Security & Compliance:** Operate IT security controls (device encryption, endpoint protection, patch compliance, MFA, administrative access). Support SOC 2 audit readiness year-round by maintaining asset and access records, documenting onboarding/offboarding, conducting access reviews, and providing audit evidence. Apply least-privilege access and verify timely deprovisioning.
**Employee Support:** Provide responsive, approachable support for access, laptops, collaboration tools, and office technology. Turn recurring requests into lasting fixes.
**Security Response:** Triage suspected phishing, lost devices, and compromised accounts. Follow established procedures and escalate promptly. Partner on security training and policy acknowledgments.
**Process & Documentation:** Build lightweight, scalable processes including runbooks, self-service guidance, and application ownership records. Work with People Operations and vendors on reliable handoffs.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role combining systems administration, integration troubleshooting, automation, and thoughtful employee support. You'll partner closely with People Operations, Security, Engineering, and team managers but will not own production infrastructure or be expected to be an expert in every application.
**Requirements:**
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in corporate IT, IT systems engineering, or SaaS administration, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Strong, hands-on SCIM and identity lifecycle experience; you've implemented or repaired provisioning and deprovisioning integrations
- Understanding of the difference between signing in, creating an account, and granting access
- Experience with SSO and modern identity standards (SAML, OAuth/OIDC), group-based access, MFA, and authentication troubleshooting
- Experience connecting HR systems, identity providers, collaboration suites, and business applications (Rippling and Google Workspace experience preferred)
- Ability to read API documentation, investigate logs, and write or adapt scripts to solve operational problems
- Practical experience with endpoint management and laptop deployment, especially macOS, with sound security and asset-management practices
- Experience supporting SOC 2 or comparable security compliance programs, including operating IT controls, collecting audit evidence, completing access reviews, and resolving findings
- Service-minded approach: respond with urgency, explain without jargon, handle sensitive information carefully, close the loop without repeated follow-up
- Comfort in a rapidly growing company where priorities change and you balance immediate unblocking with preventing future issues
**Especially Useful:**
- Experience improving onboarding during rapid hiring or supporting employees across multiple offices
- Experience with compliance automation platforms, automated evidence collection, and SaaS license management
- Experience using AI-assisted tools and secure integrations to improve IT operations
