OpenRouter is the leading AI routing and infrastructure layer that enterprises use to access, manage, and optimize large language models across providers. The company is expanding and opening its first office in New York City. You will be the first IT Manager for OpenRouter's NYC office, reporting to the Head of IT & Security. This is a hybrid role: you'll manage the physical office environment (five days a week, fully onsite) while also running IT operations for a global remote workforce across time zones. Key responsibilities include: - Stand up and operate meeting technology: Zoom Rooms in all conference rooms and the All Hands space, plus digital displays throughout the office. - Own the Ubiquiti network, wifi, and internet infrastructure from deployment through ongoing uptime. - Manage badge access systems for employees and visitors, including access logs and security. - Deploy and maintain desk setups: monitors, docks, cables, peripherals, and ergonomic equipment. - Provide walk-up technical support to in-office staff and remote support for the global workforce. - Coordinate with Workplace Operations on office build-out, moves, and facilities-tech integration. - Partner with People/HR on employee and contractor onboarding and offboarding to ensure access provisioning and deprovisioning. - Administer SSO and MDM, process access change requests, and manage MacBook configuration and fleet standards. - Support the core productivity stack: Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, and related tools. You'll work in a high-talent-density environment where everyone owns big problems and ships fast. You'll have autonomy to make decisions without waiting for sign-off. The role requires balancing urgent office needs (wifi outages, walk-up support) with global workforce support across time zones. REQUIREMENTS: - Several years of hands-on IT operations experience. - Real experience standing up office technology (not just maintaining it): AV systems, conference rooms, enterprise networking (Ubiquiti experience preferred), and physical access control. - Admin-level proficiency with SSO and MDM on a Mac-first fleet. - Experience hiring and managing outsourced vendors: MSPs, AV installers, ISPs, network/wifi specialists, and hardware suppliers. - Clear, proactive communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences. - Strong empathy for end users and understanding of business impact of technical issues. - Strong work ethic and willingness to prioritize urgent business needs. - Ability to remain calm under pressure (e.g., during critical all-hands meetings). - Commitment to documentation, scripting, and standardization to prevent recurring issues. NICE TO HAVE: - IT certifications (ITIL, CompTIA, Cisco). - Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, PCI DSS, HIPAA, GDPR). - Experience supporting IT through M&A transactions.
