Valar Atomics is a Series A advanced nuclear energy company developing scalable, high-temperature nuclear power systems for industrial applications, hydrogen production, and next-generation manufacturing. The company is building its first pilot plant in Orangeville, Utah.
The IT Engineer role is a hybrid position blending hands-on help desk support with Tier 2 systems administration and network troubleshooting. You will be the primary technical resource onsite, working independently to resolve user issues, maintain infrastructure, and manage hardware and software assets across a mixed Mac, Windows, and mobile environment.
Key responsibilities include:
**Help Desk & End-User Support:** Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for macOS and Windows laptops (hardware, software, connectivity). Support iOS and Android mobile device enrollment, configuration, and troubleshooting. Troubleshoot Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft 365 applications. Manage user MFA setup and Microsoft Authenticator issues. Onboard and offboard users, including account provisioning, device setup, and access removal.
**Systems Administration:** Administer Microsoft Intune for Windows and mobile device management, compliance policies, and application deployment. Administer Addigy and/or Jamf for macOS device management, configuration profiles, patching, and software distribution. Manage identities, groups, conditional access, and access policies in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD). Support and maintain resources in Microsoft Azure and AWS GovCloud environments. Perform Tier 2 systems administration tasks including patching, monitoring, backups, and performance troubleshooting.
**Network Support:** Perform Tier 2 network troubleshooting for LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and switching/routing issues. Diagnose connectivity problems and escalate to vendors or senior engineers as appropriate.
**Asset & Software Asset Management:** Maintain accurate hardware asset inventory throughout the lifecycle (procurement, deployment, reallocation, disposal). Manage software asset management (SAM), including license tracking, compliance, renewals, and usage optimization. Keep asset records and documentation current and audit-ready.
**Collaboration:** Work with cross-functional teams to support projects, business needs, and technology rollouts. Work independently and with cross-functional teams.
This is a full-time, onsite position in Orangeville, Utah, offering the opportunity to support a high-impact startup building transformative energy technology.
**Requirements:**
- 3+ years of IT support or systems administration experience
- Hands-on experience with macOS and Windows endpoint management
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, Entra ID (Azure AD), or similar MDM/IAM platforms
- Experience with Jamf, Addigy, or comparable macOS management tools
- Tier 2 network troubleshooting skills (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS, DHCP)
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and Outlook support
- Mobile device management experience (iOS/Android)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work onsite full-time in Orangeville, Utah
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder)
**Preferred Skills:**
- CompTIA Security+ certification
- Cisco CCNA certification
- Cybersecurity or IT experience from U.S. Air Force or U.S. Navy
