Anthropic is seeking an experienced IP Counsel to lead trademark and domain protection for one of the world's fastest-growing AI technology brands. This is a hands-on, senior individual contributor role within the IP Legal team, responsible for managing Anthropic's global trademark and domain portfolio across clearance, prosecution, portfolio management, and enforcement. Key responsibilities include: running trademark clearance for new model, product, and feature names with risk-rated recommendations; managing global trademark prosecution and portfolio strategy in coordination with outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions; leading trademark and domain enforcement end-to-end, from infringement assessment through resolution; overseeing the online brand protection program in partnership with external vendors; managing domain portfolio strategy including acquisitions and disputes; responding to inbound trademark demands and supporting trademark-related litigation; counseling marketing, product, and go-to-market teams on brand usage and naming; and building playbooks and processes to scale a world-class global brand protection practice. The ideal candidate holds a JD from an accredited law school and is an active member of at least one U.S. state bar. Substantial experience is required spanning trademark clearance, prosecution, portfolio management, and enforcement, with current hands-on involvement in running clearances, shaping filing strategies, and making enforcement decisions. Candidates must have managed global trademark and domain portfolios, including UDRP proceedings and online enforcement, and demonstrate sound judgment in prioritizing matters and communicating reasoning to both legal and business stakeholders. Preferred qualifications include 10+ years of trademark and domain practice, prior in-house experience at a technology company with a track record of enabling business speed in a risk-adjusted manner, experience protecting brands in AI or rapidly evolving technology fields, experience building or scaling high-volume enforcement and takedown programs, and experience navigating brand disputes with commercial, community, or publicity dimensions. This role is based in San Francisco and offers the opportunity to protect some of the most visible and valuable brands in AI technology at the pace the industry moves.
