Axle Energy is building software infrastructure for the decarbonized energy system, controlling hundreds of thousands of energy assets (vehicle charging, heating systems, home batteries) to shift energy usage to times when electricity is cheap and green. The company is backed by leading investors including Energize Capital and Accel and operates at startup speed in a legacy industry. You will lead Axle's international expansion strategy, assessing future markets and business models from first principles. This is a full-stack operator role combining strategic thinking, regulatory deep-dives, and hands-on execution. Key responsibilities: - Develop and execute high-level international expansion strategy, defining commercial value of new markets and business models - Conduct in-depth analysis of policy, regulations, and market access requirements - Build zero-to-one business through partnerships with grid operators, utilities, retailers, and potential clients; validate hypotheses rapidly through direct engagement - Execute implementation as international operations scale: scope and set up pilots, identify partners, build relationships, and get hands dirty with operational details - Work across technical and commercial domains to identify opportunities and drive projects to completion in complex environments You will operate in a deliberately flat organizational structure, working directly to shape energy market futures and accelerate the global transition to low-carbon systems. The role involves repeated delivery of first-of-a-kind projects across multiple geographies, becoming a domain expert, and working at the cutting edge of global electrification. Workplace: Hybrid with dog-friendly office near Farringdon, London. Expected in-office 2-3 days per week to maximize collaboration. REQUIREMENTS: The company emphasizes growth potential over domain-specific expertise. Ideal candidates have demonstrated experience in one or more of: strategy development, regulatory/policy analysis, business development, partnership building, or complex project execution. You should have a track record of building things, developing new relationships, and helping ambitious projects succeed in complex environments. Technical acumen to process highly technical information combined with commercial instinct is essential. No specific years of experience, education level, or certifications are stated as mandatory.
