Salary: USD 121,410 - 127,800 / annual
Coinbase is seeking an Internal Audit Senior Associate to execute risk-based operational and compliance audits end-to-end within the Finance function. Reporting to the Audit Committee as an independent third-line function, you will strengthen Coinbase's control environment by evaluating governance, compliance, and risk management processes across global operations.
Key responsibilities include executing comprehensive operational and compliance audits from scoping through remediation validation, managing audit request tracking and open items with proactive stakeholder updates, identifying control gaps through root cause analysis and drafting risk-based recommendations, leading audit reporting with direct and actionable write-ups for senior leadership and regulators, validating remediation of prior findings, and partnering with Operations, Compliance, Risk, Finance, and Legal teams while maintaining third-line independence.
Required qualifications: 5+ years in internal audit, external audit, compliance testing, or risk management within financial services, fintech, payments, brokerage, or custody. You must demonstrate ability to independently execute audits end-to-end with regulator-ready documentation, possess working knowledge of AML/CFT, sanctions, and consumer protection compliance frameworks, manage multiple concurrent workstreams effectively, and show proficiency with data analytics (SQL preferred) and technology tools. Experience in regulated financial institutions is preferred, as is a relevant professional certification (CIA, CPA, CFE, Series 7, etc.) or progress toward one. The role emphasizes responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency and quality.
