Aalo Atomics is developing factory-fabricated microreactors to deliver affordable, scalable, and reliable nuclear power globally. The Aalo-1 is a 10 MWe advanced reactor leveraging cutting-edge safety, modularity, and efficiency. As Integration Engineer, you own the technical coherence of the plant—the single point of accountability for ensuring mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & control (I&C), structural, HVAC, fluid, and shielding systems fit physically, functionally, and analytically into a licensable, buildable, operable reactor. You will translate top-level plant requirements into system-level interfaces, adjudicate cross-discipline design conflicts, and ensure the as-designed configuration remains traceable to the licensing basis through detailed design, construction, and commissioning. This is not a coordination role: you make binding technical decisions, defend them before internal design review boards, vendor teams, and the licensing authority. Your work is reviewed against applicable quality assurance programs (10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B or equivalent) and against design, analysis, and performance expectations of the licensing pathway (deterministic framework under 10 CFR Part 50/52, risk-informed performance-based framework under 10 CFR Part 53, or equivalent international frameworks). Key responsibilities include: owning the plant-level interface control system and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) between systems and balance-of-plant; converting top-level functional and regulatory requirements into system-level performance requirements with bidirectional traceability; leading cross-discipline design integration reviews to resolve conflicts between piping (ASME B31.1/BPVC Section III), structural steel (ACI 349, AISC N690), electrical raceway (IEEE 384), HVAC (ASME AG-1), and I&C sensor placement (IEEE 603, IEEE 7-4.3.2); managing the digital plant model and 3D CAD/PLM environment (NX/Creo/SolidWorks; Teamcenter/Windchill/Enovia) with clash detection and configuration control per NQA-1; and supporting licensing by preparing SAR sections, responding to RAIs, and ensuring design changes are evaluated under applicable change-control processes before implementation.
