Rocket Lab is seeking an Integrated Operations Engineer II to join the Launch Operations team at the Auckland Production Complex. This role is central to mission-critical operations, spanning stack testing through launch and on-orbit operations of Electron launch vehicles. You will operate from the Auckland Mission Control Centre and LC-1 Mahia, supporting launches across multiple sites. Key responsibilities include executing testing and launch operations for Electron vehicles while maintaining real-time situational awareness; configuring and operating electrical systems, avionics, RF systems, tracking & telemetry, and command & control systems; driving continuous improvement to optimize checkout procedures and increase launch cadence; performing real-time troubleshooting and root cause analysis; developing proficiency across multiple operational roles and training team members; conducting post-test and post-flight data analysis; and supporting the design and operation of test facilities, launch pads, and control centres. Required qualifications include an aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or mechatronic engineering degree with 3+ years in engineering design, test, and/or operations. You must be self-motivated with strong communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to perform under pressure in dynamic environments. Desirable experience includes 5+ years in engineering roles, launch vehicle or spacecraft experience (integration, testing, launch, or mission operations), programming skills in Java or Python, software development with web-based tools (HTML, XML), and networking knowledge (TCP/IP, UDP, multicast protocols, routing). Success in this role requires ownership of tasks and projects, collaborative teamwork, proactive communication with appropriate risk escalation, and strategic thinking. This is a hands-on position where you'll work alongside talented operators, engineers, and technicians in a fast-paced environment where your expertise directly impacts successful missions to space.
