Gyde is building an AI-native insurance brokerage platform that transforms how millions of Americans access healthcare coverage. The company acquires traditional insurance brokerages and modernizes them with intelligent automation, voice/chat experiences, and predictive analytics—all powered by AI that learns from client interactions. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you'll own the platform that powers this transformation. You report to the Head of Infrastructure and work on a small, high-impact team. The role deliberately blurs the line between infrastructure and application engineering: you'll handle cloud infrastructure (EKS, AWS, Pulumi, CI/CD, observability), but also full-stack ownership of business problems. A typical project flows end-to-end: a business need arrives ("we can't track which agency owns this contract," "we need cost visibility on LLM spend"), and you own it from data model and audit design through TypeScript application code, Temporal workflows, Postgres migrations, shared packages, IAM roles, and observability dashboards. You'll write TypeScript in the monorepo, design Temporal workers, manage database schemas, and build packages other engineers depend on. A significant part of the work is neither pure infrastructure nor application code: evaluating vendor permission models, designing approval workflows with named humans and SLAs, and treating HIPAA compliance and cost as design inputs rather than afterthoughts. You'll often be the interface between infrastructure, security, data, finance, and legal—writing decision docs and defending architectural choices against cost and compliance concerns. The throughline is simplification: taking a complex, regulated, multi-tenant environment and making it feel simple to users. You understand that the mechanism is usually the short part; the real work is carve-outs, sequencing, and verifying that controls are truly enforced. Gyde's founding team includes leaders from Oscar, Stripe, Vista Equity Partners, and Bain & Company. The company raised $60M led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Optum Ventures, Crystal Venture Partners, Virtue, and MVP Ventures.
