Xero is seeking an HR & Talent Business Partner to serve as the primary people strategy and talent acquisition leader for its South Africa operations, based in Cape Town with hybrid flexibility across Cape Town and Johannesburg offices. In this generalist role, you will combine strategic people experience partnering, end-to-end talent acquisition, and regional advisory to support senior leadership and drive organizational success. You will translate people strategy into practical business outcomes, manage recruitment for all local roles, guide organizational design and leadership capability development, oversee the Employment Equity Plan, and resolve complex employee relations matters. Key responsibilities include: - Full ownership of end-to-end recruitment for all South Africa-based roles, from sourcing strategy through offer management - Managing statutory compliance and driving progress on South Africa's Employment Equity Plan - Partnering with senior leaders to deliver data-driven people plans aligned with regional and global priorities - Providing trusted advisory across the employee lifecycle: performance management, remuneration, change management, and leadership coaching - Operating autonomously while maintaining alignment with global people experience strategy - Leveraging data and modern HR technology to inform decisions and improve delivery You will connect directly with regional leadership, global Centers of Excellence, and broader Talent Experience teams to foster high-performing teams through open communication and trust-based relationships. Requirements: - Strong background in generalist HR or people business partnering in a fast-paced environment, paired with hands-on talent acquisition expertise - Practical knowledge of South African employment legislation and experience managing Employment Equity planning or statutory reporting - Proven ability to operate autonomously, balancing high-level strategic alignment with day-to-day operational execution - Skilled at leveraging data to inform people decisions, refine recruitment practices, and influence leadership outcomes - Comfort coaching senior leaders through complex decisions, organizational change, and sensitive conversations - Adaptive approach to leveraging modern tools and technology to continuously improve delivery and candidate experiences
