GumGum is an advertising technology company powered by the Mindset Graph™, an AI-driven data engine that matches brands with audiences in the right mindset. The company operates in over 19 markets globally and was founded in 2008.
The HR Operations Specialist is a core member of GumGum's People Operations team, responsible for day-to-day execution of benefits administration, immigration support, compensation operations, and recurring People programs. This role sits between People Ops coordinators and domain specialists, providing operational execution, data integrity, and process support across benefits, immigration, compensation, and program delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own day-to-day benefits administration and drive the annual open enrollment cycle end to end, including enrollments, qualifying life events, invoice reconciliation, and COBRA coordination
- Partner with the immigration point of contact to keep cases and filing deadlines on track; own I-9 and E-Verify execution
- Maintain compensation data including the variable pay index, job architecture and levelling library, and submissions to benchmarking partners
- Build analysis behind pay decisions — band placement, compa-ratio, and offer analytics
- Keep recurring People programs moving on cadence, from performance review cycles to annual compensation reviews to engagement surveys
- Curate the People programs calendar to ensure cycles land cleanly and never collide
- Work alongside People systems owners on data integrity and audits across HR tools like ChartHop
- Take on cross-domain special projects as they surface
The ideal candidate is an organized, detail-oriented generalist comfortable moving across HR domains rather than specializing in one, and who uses AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude to work efficiently and accurately. This role reports to the VP, People & Culture.
GumGum fosters a flexible work environment with the ability to work in-office or remotely, though occasional in-person collaboration is expected and the position should be within commutable distance to the Santa Monica office.
Requirements:
- 3+ years in HR or People Operations, comfortable moving across benefits, immigration, compensation, and program support
- Proven ability to run a defined process independently once trained (processing enrollments, reconciling data, preparing reports)
- Experience supporting a recurring People program such as open enrollment or performance cycle as part of a team
- Hands-on fluency in an HRIS or payroll system such as ADP Workforce Now
- Reconciliation instinct: ability to put two data sets side by side and spot discrepancies
- Strong organization and deadline awareness; ability to track multiple recurring processes, follow documented procedures closely, and escalate exceptions
- Clear written and verbal communication, including fielding employee questions on benefits and process with confidence
- AI literacy: demonstrated use of tools like ChatGPT or Claude to draft communications, analyze data, and troubleshoot
