FlixBus is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join its Human Resources team, supporting operations in Atlanta, GA (or Chicago, IL). This role serves as a strategic partner and day-to-day resource for employees and management across a complex, high-volume, unionized transportation operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and manager coaching.
Compliance: Ensure organizational compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
Compensation Management: Support administration of compensation programs, including job evaluations, salary benchmarking, job descriptions, classifications, annual merit reviews, and union pay scales.
Performance Management: Administer end-to-end performance management cycles, including goal-setting, mid-year check-ins, annual evaluations, and progressive disciplinary processes.
Leave Administration: Manage all employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, short-term and long-term disability, and personal leave.
Unemployment Compensation: Manage unemployment insurance claims and timely state agency responses.
People Operations: Maintain accuracy and integrity of employee data in the HRIS, including employment changes, promotions, and status updates.
Onboarding: Manage pre-employment activities and full onboarding experience, including background checks, I-9 verifications, and new hire orientations.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience with demonstrated proficiency across the functional areas listed above
- Direct experience working within a unionized workforce; strong working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, grievance procedures, and labor law
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrable experience identifying opportunities for improving HR processes, systems, and overall employee experience
- Prior experience in intercity bus transportation, passenger rail, transit authority, or comparable high-volume, multi-location transportation operations
- Experience supporting DOT-regulated employees and familiarity with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements
- Full-time, M-F in-office presence required; availability to travel to operational locations as needed
Preferred Experience:
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
- Experience supporting multiple sites or geographically dispersed employee populations
