Medeloop is seeking a Healthcare Data Scientist specializing in Real-World Evidence (RWE) to drive clinical research using large-scale healthcare data and AI. This is a hands-on, technical role combining rigorous observational data analysis with cross-functional collaboration.
You will work on two fronts: internally, partnering with Medeloop's AI research and product teams to design real-world evidence analyses, evaluate clinical research agents, and improve how the platform reasons about healthcare data; externally, serving as an embedded data scientist for partner institutions—working directly with clinicians, researchers, and life sciences organizations to scope research questions, deliver high-quality evidence, and drive platform adoption.
Key responsibilities include building and executing RWE analyses to answer complex healthcare and biopharma questions using claims and EHR data; writing scalable, production-quality code (SQL, Python, R) to define cohorts, model patient journeys, and generate reproducible research outputs; applying clinical and statistical judgment to evaluate treatment patterns, utilization, and outcomes while reasoning carefully about bias and confounding; reviewing and challenging AI agent outputs to improve analytical quality; partnering with customers to scope questions and expand platform usage; and communicating technical findings clearly to internal teams, scientific stakeholders, and customers.
You will help shape the analytical foundations and evaluation frameworks for next-generation AI-driven clinical research tools.
Required qualifications: PhD or Master's degree plus 5+ years of industry experience in a quantitative health field (biostatistics, epidemiology, clinical trials, public health, health informatics, health economics). Strong grounding in RWD/RWE methodology with domain expertise in biostatistics, epidemiology, or clinical trials. Proven ability to answer complex clinical questions using SQL, Python, and statistical software (R/SAS). Experience with large healthcare datasets (claims, EHR data, clinical coding systems like ICD/CPT/RxNorm). Track record of producing rigorous, research-grade analyses, reports, or publications. Hands-on AI/ML experience with ability to review code and reason about model outputs. Strong communication skills; customer-facing experience preferred.
Nice to have: direct customer-facing and sales experience; industry background (preferred over consulting).
