Hinge Health is seeking a Health Economist to design and execute rigorous ROI studies that demonstrate how their digital musculoskeletal (MSK) care platform delivers measurable savings and improved outcomes for over 20 million lives. You'll be the analytical engine driving commercial success, translating complex claims data into compelling narratives that close deals, inform product strategy, and establish Hinge Health as the evidence-based leader in digital MSK care.
In your first three months, you'll build relationships across Client Success, Marketing, and Commercial teams to understand analytical needs and prioritize high-impact ROI studies. You'll audit existing health economics methodologies to identify streamlining opportunities while maintaining rigor, and complete your first client-facing cost analysis with preliminary findings presented to internal stakeholders.
Within six months, you'll lead end-to-end execution of claims-based ROI studies, including vendor coordination for data acquisition, data transformation using SQL/Python, and analysis with advanced econometric methods. You'll partner with Client Success teams to present study results to external clients (health plan analysts, actuaries), translating technical findings into actionable insights, and contribute to clinical study design by identifying key health economics endpoints.
By year one, you'll own the health economics research agenda for a specific MSK condition or product line, acting as the go-to expert for commercial teams. You'll publish at least one peer-reviewed manuscript or conference presentation elevating Hinge Health's thought leadership, and build reusable data pipelines from their Databricks claims and EHR warehouse to reduce study turnaround time by 30%.
You're a learn-it-all who stays current with MSK and digital health research, constantly refining methods and bringing new ideas. You fluently speak both data science and business, moving seamlessly between technical discussions with actuaries and strategic conversations with commercial leaders. You're accountable, balancing multiple competing priorities without dropping the ball, and a hustler with rigor—finding creative solutions to data limitations while delivering defensible, high-quality results that withstand external scrutiny.
The role is hybrid, requiring three days per week in the San Francisco office.
