Pivotal Health is building an AI-driven platform that helps healthcare providers navigate complex reimbursement workflows, dispute underpaid claims, and recover fair reimbursement from insurance companies. The company combines software, data, and service to simplify Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) processes and reduce administrative burden on stretched provider teams.
As Head of Security, you will own Pivotal's security program from the ground up at a critical inflection point for the company. This is a rare opportunity to define security strategy, architecture, and culture at a fast-growing, AI-native healthtech company handling sensitive provider data and complex financial workflows.
Key responsibilities include: establishing the company's security strategy, policies, processes, and roadmap; partnering with engineering to embed security into platform design, development, and deployment (cloud architecture, CI/CD, data access controls, third-party integrations); leading compliance and regulatory readiness for SOC 2 and HIPAA frameworks; staying current on threat landscape and emerging attack vectors; representing Pivotal's security posture to customers, partners, auditors, and prospects; driving security awareness and culture across the organization; and developing guardrails for responsible, secure use of LLMs and AI tooling in both product and internal workflows.
You will bring 8+ years of security experience with meaningful exposure to both technical implementation and program-level strategy. You have strong working knowledge of cloud security, infrastructure security, and application security fundamentals sufficient to engage credibly with engineering teams. You have built or significantly matured a security program, ideally at an early-stage or high-growth company, with hands-on experience in compliance frameworks including control design, audit preparation, and ongoing management. You are comfortable representing security externally with strong communication skills, operate effectively as a collaborator and influencer across functions, and thrive building from scratch in ambiguous environments. Experience in healthtech, fintech, or other regulated industries; financial systems and payments infrastructure; AI/LLM security; or managing/growing security teams is valued.
