Mapbox is seeking a Head of Sales, Renewals to lead the company's customer retention, renewal, and expansion strategy across its enterprise customer base. In this director-level role, you will own ARR retention and renewal rate accountability, building and executing proactive renewal strategies that identify risk and opportunity early. You'll lead complex renewal and expansion conversations involving commercial negotiations, pricing, and usage commitments, while developing strong multi-threaded relationships across customer organizations including Product, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, and executive stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include running weekly renewal and deal inspection reviews, maintaining accurate renewal forecasts in Salesforce, establishing clear processes for identifying renewal risk and competitive threats, and driving expansion within existing customers across Mapbox's product suite (Maps, Search, Navigation, Movement, Atlas). You will hire, coach, and develop Account Managers, creating a team culture centered on customer value, commercial ownership, and accountability. You'll partner closely with Customer Success, Solutions Architecture, TPM, Finance, Legal, and Product to remove blockers and improve customer outcomes.
You'll bring customer and market insights back to Product to influence priorities based on adoption patterns and customer needs, and lead commercial modeling and pricing discussions that balance customer value with Mapbox growth. The ideal candidate has 8+ years leading Account Management, Renewals, or enterprise sales teams responsible for recurring revenue retention and growth. You should have a proven track record delivering strong gross retention, net retention, and expansion results in complex enterprise software environments, with demonstrated ability to manage large strategic renewals involving complex pricing and procurement discussions.
Strong understanding of usage-based or consumption-based business models is essential, along with the ability to identify renewal risk early and build strategies that improve retention. You should have strong commercial instincts, forecasting discipline, and experience coaching teams on renewal strategy and executive engagement. Background in location technology, developer platforms, or cloud infrastructure is preferred. You're a clear communicator who raises team performance through coaching and accountability, comfortable in fast-moving environments where priorities and product capabilities evolve continuously.
