Stedi is building the first new healthcare clearinghouse in decades, modernizing how healthcare payers and providers exchange mission-critical transactions using standardized EDI formats. The company has raised $142M from top-tier investors including Stripe, Addition, USV, and Bloomberg Beta, and is ranked among the fastest-growing SaaS vendors. As Head of Policy, you will own Stedi's comprehensive interoperability and healthcare policy strategy, reporting to executive leadership. This is a hands-on, builder role with significant scope and impact. Key responsibilities include: - Develop and execute Stedi's policy agenda around healthcare interoperability, administrative simplification, and standards evolution. Work with leadership to prioritize initiatives and chart adoption pathways. - Build Stedi's government affairs program from the ground up, establishing stakeholder relationships and engagement frameworks that position Stedi as the credible voice on interoperability. - Lead Stedi's participation in standards bodies (X12, WEDI, CAQH CORE, HL7, and others), shifting from reactive participation to agenda-setting. Bring proposals and build momentum through key relationships. - Execute detailed regulatory advocacy with CMS, HHS, and federal/state agencies through comment letters, RFI responses, technical proposals, and direct staff engagement on rule language. - Identify highest-leverage initiatives by translating clearinghouse transaction inefficiencies into concrete interoperability proposals, working cross-functionally with engineering, product, and operations. - Craft precise policy language and rule text that withstands scrutiny across Stedi's business interests and the broader healthcare ecosystem. - Build coalitions of support among providers, health tech companies, payers, and trade associations. - Keep leadership informed on critical regulatory pipelines including HIPAA administrative simplification, X12 version migrations, and interoperability/prior authorization rulemaking. You bring 8+ years of health policy, regulatory affairs, or standards experience—ideally from CMS/HHS, Capitol Hill, a standards body, or the policy team of a payer, provider, health tech company, or trade association. You have deep working knowledge of HIPAA Administrative Simplification, X12 transaction sets, CAQH CORE operating rules, and federal rulemaking. You're resourceful, detail-oriented, a strong writer, and credible with engineers. You have a track record of driving concrete policy outcomes and an established network in healthcare. You move fast and prefer implementation detail to abstract theory.
