OpenGov is seeking a Head of Platform Marketing to own the platform narrative for the Public Service Platform, a comprehensive ERP solution serving over 2,000 U.S. government entities. This is a senior individual contributor role reporting to the SVP of Marketing.
The role centers on translating complex platform strategy into compelling, clear messaging across all GTM touchpoints. You will define what field teams and government buyers need to understand about how the ERP, Community Ops, and AI capabilities work together. You'll serve as the primary messaging partner to platform leadership, translating weekly product developments into resonant external content while ensuring OG Assist—OpenGov's most strategic AI capability—is communicated with clarity and specificity across all audiences.
Key responsibilities include:
**Platform Narrative:** Own and evolve the platform story across all formats (talk tracks, decks, video scripts, ad copy, onboarding, executive presentations). Translate what is being built into content that resonates with government buyers and keeps the field oriented as the platform evolves. Provide informed input on pricing and packaging decisions, bringing buyer and field perspective without owning outcomes. Make AI capabilities feel practical and specific to government use cases, not like a feature list. Advise on narrative consistency across major external moments (analyst briefings, keynotes, conferences).
**GTM Activation:** Ensure the platform story is consistent across seller pitches, PS/CS decks, onboarding, analyst briefings, press, and customer stories. Set the bar for on-narrative content quality without owning every output. Resolve messaging conflicts before content reaches the field by making calls on competing needs from AEs, CSMs, PS, and Support. Create conditions for GTM teams to stay excited about what's being built. Drive adoption of new capabilities with sellers, implementation teams, and customers—adoption is the metric, not training completion. Present and deliver directly when needed; be credible in rooms with AEs, CSMs, and executives.
**Writing & Storytelling:** Write copy that field teams read, believe, and use. Own the work that cannot be automated: judgment calls, room reads, narratives that land because a human crafted them. Partner with growth marketers, comms, and product engineers on launch moments. Lead customer-facing content (stories, case studies, enablement) that reflects the platform story accurately.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of experience in product marketing, platform marketing, or GTM-adjacent role at a B2B SaaS company (required)
- Expert ability to write with clarity and precision; translate complex platform stories into specific, urgent buyer narratives (required)
- Deep understanding of SaaS business mechanics: what drives pipeline, how AEs sell, how CSMs retain, what PS does in deployments (required)
- Technical fluency sufficient to work directly with product engineers and translate their work into buyer value (required)
- High agency: sees gaps, fills them, does not wait to be asked (required)
- Executive presence: can own a room and deliver the story live, not just write it (required)
- Demonstrated AI fluency: directs AI-assisted workflows, assesses output quality, builds for augmentation rather than treating AI as a search engine (required)
- Government technology or regulated industry experience (preferred)
