Reducto is an agentic document platform serving leading AI teams and enterprise customers (Harvey, Vanta, Scale, FAANG, top trading firms). The company processes a billion pages monthly and has raised over $100M from a16z, Benchmark, and First Round Capital, with 8x YoY revenue growth.
As Head of Platform Engineering, you will own the reliability, performance, and future direction of Reducto's serving platform—the core infrastructure that transforms customer documents into results. You'll report to the VP of Engineering and work directly with founders.
Key responsibilities:
- Own the serving platform end-to-end: job orchestration, document pre/post processing, model inference, autoscaling, throttling, and complete an in-flight serving stack migration
- Build deployment and serving capabilities for Reducto in customer clouds and on-premise environments
- Design and implement observability systems that drive alerting, incident response, and measure reliability, latency, and cost-per-document metrics
- Own the platform roadmap and technical decision-making; source and recruit platform engineers
- Collaborate with Product and ML engineering teams on agent runtimes, new model rollouts, and deployment capabilities
- Build internal data platforms serving internal users and customers
This is a hands-on role. You'll participate in design reviews, respond to incidents, and write code to unblock the team. You'll spend your first months shipping as an engineer alongside the team before fully transitioning to leadership.
Bonus experience: serving ML/vision-language models at scale, building data platforms for ML teams, shipping on-premise deployments, agent sandboxes and evaluations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 3 years owning reliability, latency, and efficiency for a platform at significant scale; ability to articulate metrics moved
- Recent hands-on experience; comfortable writing design docs, code, and reviewing team code critically
- Track record attracting, hiring, and retaining top-tier talent with demonstrable examples
- Ability to navigate fast-moving, ambiguous environments; experience as founder, founding engineer, or greenfield project lead
- Expectation of owning roadmap and technical decision-making
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and containerized deployments in production
- High technical bar applied to team and own work
- Deep curiosity about new technologies, stacks, and products
