Halter makes solar-powered smart collars that enable farmers and ranchers to move, fence, and monitor cattle from their phones without physical fences. Founded in New Zealand in 2016, Halter is now operating across New Zealand, Australia, and the United States, backed by tier-1 investors including Bessemer Venture Partners, DCVC, Blackbird, and Rocket Lab founder Peter Beck. As Head of Partnering (People & Performance) for North America, you will be the most senior people leader for the region's rapidly growing business. This is both a strategic and hands-on role requiring strong judgment, commercial awareness, and the ability to drive organizational effectiveness. You will partner with North American executives on people strategy, organizational design, workforce planning, and succession planning. You'll coach leaders on leadership effectiveness, performance management, and team scaling, using data to inform decisions on structure, engagement, and retention. You'll build and lead a team of People Partners across the region, setting clear standards for how the function partners with business leaders. Key responsibilities include running performance management and calibration processes, partnering with talent teams to attract and retain key talent, helping leaders build inclusive and engaged teams, and handling employee relations matters with care and sound judgment. You'll also represent North America in global People & Performance leadership discussions, ensuring regional needs shape company-wide decisions. You'll make independent decisions when time zones mean headquarters isn't available, and occasionally support global initiatives outside North America. Halter is headquartered in New Zealand, so you'll be the critical link between North America and the global People & Performance team, ensuring North America has a strong voice in company decisions and that teams stay connected to Halter's culture. Expect regular cross-time-zone work, including some early morning or evening meetings, and occasional travel to New Zealand and other Halter locations. The role is based in the Boulder, Colorado office. Halter operates office-first (not office-only), with a high-trust culture where in-person connections drive growth, learning, impact, and relationships. REQUIREMENTS: - 10+ years as a strategic Human Resources Business Partner, People and Performance Partner, or equivalent in a high-growth or complex global organization, including experience leading a team of partners - Experience as a senior People leader in a regional business of a company headquartered in another country, ideally where that region was growing quickly or was critical to company strategy - Skilled at influencing senior leaders you don't report to, across countries and functions - Experience partnering across functions such as Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Operations, and field teams - Strong knowledge of North American employment law - Hands-on experience with organizational design, performance management, and scaling teams through change - Confident communicator and trusted advisor who builds credibility quickly in fast-paced environments
