Pulley is seeking its first Head of Legal to build and scale the company's commercial legal function from the ground up. The role involves establishing legal processes, templates, and playbooks as Pulley grows; advising leadership on corporate legal matters and risk mitigation; partnering with co-founders and cross-functional teams on product expansion and new market entry; managing relationships with outside counsel for specialized needs; and serving as a trusted legal advisor across the organization. Key responsibilities include end-to-end drafting, review, and negotiation of customer, vendor, and partner contracts; partnering closely with Sales and Revenue teams to structure deals and unblock negotiations; and translating legal complexity into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings 6–9 years of corporate and commercial legal experience, ideally combining time at a top startup-focused law firm with in-house experience. Required background includes general corporate law, tech transactions, and commercial contracts supporting emerging companies, venture-backed startups, or growth-stage firms. Strong track record in commercial contracting, J.D. from an accredited law school, and active bar admission are essential. The role requires excellent judgment on when to handle matters internally versus engaging outside counsel, comfort operating as a generalist, and a commercially-minded approach that prioritizes helping the business move faster while managing risk. Nice-to-have qualifications include prior in-house experience at a startup or growth-stage tech company, exposure to corporate governance or financing work, and familiarity with construction, real estate, or proptech industries. Pulley helps architects, builders, and retailers accelerate commercial projects using AI-powered permitting intelligence. Founded in 2021 and backed by CRV, Susa Ventures, and Fifth Wall, the company serves major brands and supports data center buildouts, EV charging networks, and other large-scale commercial initiatives.
