Quizlet is a $1B+ learning platform used by two-thirds of U.S. high school students and half of college students, powering over 1 billion learning interactions weekly. The company blends cognitive science with machine learning to personalize learning experiences across 60M+ users globally.
As Head of Learning Experience, you will own the vision, strategy, and execution for Quizlet's end-to-end study ecosystem. This is a high-visibility executive role responsible for driving the core product value proposition that powers billions of monthly learning interactions. You will lead a multidisciplinary team including product managers, behavioral scientists, designers, and AI engineers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architect a multi-year product strategy transforming Quizlet into a fully adaptive, multi-modal study platform grounded in behavioral and cognitive science principles
- Translate learning science concepts (active recall, spaced repetition, scaffolded instruction, metacognition, cognitive load management) into intuitive product mechanics
- Own and scale a diverse suite of study tools: interactive AI Q&A, audio/podcast study guides, active-recall engines, and peer-discussion platforms
- Partner with ML and behavioral science teams to build adaptive algorithms that dynamically present the right study format based on user cognitive load and mastery state
- Drive quantifiable outcomes across 60M+ users: increase daily study session completions by 20%+, improve week-4 cohort retention, reduce time-to-mastery
- Lead high-performing cross-functional pods shipping features on rapid two-week iteration cycles
- Continuously evaluate and integrate next-generation edtech capabilities and AI innovations
Required qualifications:
- 10+ years of product leadership with proven track record shipping consumer-facing digital products at massive scale (10M+ MAUs)
- At least 3+ years managing cross-functional product teams
- Demonstrated experience applying evidence-based human behavior principles to drive consumer product engagement (edtech, health/fitness, or consumer AI)
- Hands-on experience building diverse feature sets with interactive media formats (audio, conversational interfaces, community channels)
- Masterful understanding of A/B testing, north-star metrics, and behavioral analytics
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, HCI, Cognitive Science, Behavioral Economics, or related technical/analytical field
Bonus experience includes integrating generative AI, synthetic voice/podcasts, or conversational agents into consumer engagement loops, and strategic vision for autonomous multi-modal study companions.
The role is hybrid, requiring in-office presence on Wednesdays and Thursdays at the San Francisco headquarters.
