SigNoz is a fast-growing, open-source observability platform built on OpenTelemetry with 32,000+ GitHub stars, 1,000+ customers, and 8,000+ Slack community members. The company offers self-hosted and cloud observability solutions for modern engineering teams to monitor, debug, and optimize applications.
You will build and own the finance function end-to-end, reporting directly to the CEO. The company has meaningful revenue but finance infrastructure that needs modernization—books are accurate but slow, and granular profitability analysis by customer cohort, plan, and workload is missing. This is critical given SigNoz's petabyte-scale infrastructure where compute and storage costs per customer drive margins.
Key responsibilities include: monthly close (target under 15 days), revenue recognition for usage-based and contracted plans, statutory audit, AR and collections, multi-entity finance across US and India entities (intercompany, transfer pricing, consolidation), Indian compliance (GST, TDS, ROC/MCA, FEMA, RBI filings, ESOP administration), gross margin engineering with the platform team on infra spend and cost per ingested GB, FP&A (annual operating plan, rolling forecasts, MIS), cash and treasury management (13-week cash flow, runway, USD/INR exposure), systems modernization (ERP, billing ops, expense management, procurement, internal controls), and building a high-leverage finance team.
You should be a CA with 8–12 years post-qualification, with hands-on experience owning monthly closes and statutory audits. Deep working knowledge of Indian startup compliance is essential. You're comfortable shipping defensible answers with incomplete data, can communicate complex financial concepts to both engineers and board members, and will use data to challenge the CEO while maintaining the relationship. Nice-to-haves include Big 4 audit/TAS background, Series B/C #2 finance experience, multi-entity US–India structures, SaaS/usage-based billing expertise, and fundraising exposure.
The role is 40% unglamorous operational work (GST reconciliations, audit queries, collections) in year one. You'll discover and surface issues proactively. The upside: genuine ownership of a finance function at a company with real revenue and momentum, globally used open-source product, remote-first culture, and an intellectually interesting problem around open-source distribution and infrastructure economics.
