Bluefish AI is seeking a Head of Finance / Director of Finance to lead and scale the finance function as the company grows through its next stage of expansion. This is a high-impact role combining strategic financial partnership with hands-on leadership across FP&A, accounting, and controllership.
Key Responsibilities:
Finance Leadership & Business Partnership (FP&A):
- Own budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes (monthly, quarterly, annual)
- Build and maintain the core SaaS financial model and operating metrics (ARR, NRR, GRR, CAC, LTV, payback, churn)
- Partner with GTM leadership and Revenue Operations to forecast bookings, pipeline health, and capacity planning
- Partner with Product/Engineering on headcount planning, spend forecasting, and ROI analysis
- Drive monthly variance analysis and executive-level narrative on performance and key drivers
- Own executive dashboards and Board reporting materials
Accounting Oversight & Controllership:
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality
- Manage internal accounting resources and external accounting firms
- Establish and maintain strong financial controls, policies, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Build scalable accounting infrastructure as the company grows
You will operate as both a strategic partner to the business and a hands-on leader who drives accuracy, controls, and rigor across finance and accounting. The role requires someone who can balance big-picture strategic thinking with attention to detail and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in FP&A and strategic finance roles, ideally at a growth-stage SaaS or technology company
- Strong background in accounting, financial reporting, and controllership functions
- Deep expertise in SaaS metrics and financial modeling
- Experience managing accounting teams and external audit/accounting relationships
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale finance functions
- Excellent communication skills; ability to translate complex financial concepts for non-financial stakeholders
- Proven ability to collaborate across functions and foster open communication
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
- Self-starter with proactive mindset and accountability
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and learning new tools and processes
