Convex is building a new platform abstraction for agentic development and modern application workloads. As Head of Developer Experience, you'll own the strategy and execution for how developers and AI agents learn to build successfully on Convex.
You'll lead the developer experience team and set the vision for how Convex remains legible and accessible from a developer's first day through expert usage. This includes owning the documentation architecture (docs.convex.dev), crafting the developer narrative across blog and product communications, and working closely with engineering and founders to translate shipped features into learnable content.
The role spans strategic and hands-on work: some weeks you'll collaborate deeply with engineers on newly shipped features to create clear documentation; other weeks you'll step back to define quarterly developer narratives, identify documentation gaps, and prioritize team focus areas. You'll grow the developer experience function over time, hiring and developing team members who can produce clear, honest technical content.
Convex values deep thinking and clear communication. The company has assembled engineers who've built some of the world's largest platforms and is based in San Francisco with a strong preference for in-person collaboration, though remote arrangements exist for experienced hires in specific situations.
You should have a track record of writing developer documentation or technical content that real developers relied on, prior experience leading teams (ideally developer-facing or content-focused), the ability to read and understand code closely, and genuine interest in how AI is reshaping software development. The ideal candidate brings a clear point of view on what developers need, values simplicity and pragmatism, and brings constructive energy to a startup environment.
