Class 3 Technologies is building Iris, a next-generation climate risk platform that translates engineering-grade hazard and damage modeling into actionable intelligence for executives, operations teams, finance leaders, and consultants. The company's mission is to bring clarity to climate risk and help enterprises, institutions, and investors turn that risk into resilience.
You will be Class 3's first design leader, owning how people experience the brand and products end-to-end. The core of this role is translation: taking technically defensible outputs and making them understandable, trustworthy, and actionable for non-expert decision-makers. Much of your time will focus on the Iris experience—how complex results unfold for different user roles, how confidence and uncertainty are communicated, how recommendations connect to action, and how the journey from understanding risk to reducing it is designed. Design that earns trust is part of the product, not decoration.
You will also own the unified brand identity that ties product and external presence together. The way risk reads in a report, one-pager, or conference booth should match the language customers encounter inside the product. You'll build the visual and narrative system across the website, collateral, case studies, and templates—the machinery that lets a small company feel bigger and gives go-to-market real leverage.
Key responsibilities include: owning design direction across the company (product and brand as one coherent system); building experiences that drive adaptation and resilience decisions at scale; setting experience architecture across products (role-specific flows, progressive disclosure, narrative outputs, onboarding, reporting); designing how trust shows up (provenance, uncertainty, defensibility made visible); building and documenting brand identity and templates; equipping go-to-market with strong collateral and campaign assets; working directly with the founding team, Product, and Marketing at the table; and using AI-enabled design and prototyping workflows to maintain iteration speed.
You are a designer who has grown into leadership without losing the craft. You've led the design of complex, data-heavy products, ideally while also owning the brand around them, and you understand why keeping the two coherent matters. You think in systems—design languages, component libraries, templates others can execute within—but you got there by being excellent at details first. You're drawn to complexity on behalf of the people who navigate it, turning dense, technical, high-stakes data into insights non-experts can understand and act on. You want to work close to engineers, experts, and data scientists, not at arm's length. You're comfortable being the most senior design voice at a small company: setting direction, giving other designers a clear system to execute within, and being accountable for results. The mission matters to you as the reason to spend your next years on this problem.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience leading design of complex, data-heavy products
- Experience owning both product design and brand identity simultaneously
- Demonstrated expertise in design systems, component libraries, and scalable templates
- Strong track record translating technical/complex information for non-expert audiences
- Ability to work closely with engineers, data scientists, and technical teams
- Comfort being the most senior design voice and setting direction at a small company
- Experience designing for high-stakes decision-making contexts
- Proficiency with AI-enabled design and prototyping workflows
