sennder is Europe's leading digital freight forwarder, redefining road logistics through a unified platform that powers the entire business. The company is transitioning from growth-by-acquisition to an outcome-driven, AI-native organization. As Head of Data, you will lead sennder's full Data & ML organization, including Analytics Engineering, Data Insights, Data & AI Platform, and Machine Learning & Data Science teams. You report to the CPTO and partner strategically with the incoming SVP of Engineering to define data standards across domain engineering teams.
This is a hands-on, high-ownership builder role focused on converting sennder's data and AI capabilities into a competitive advantage. Your primary responsibilities include: leading the Data & ML organization end-to-end while managing a Director of Engineering who handles day-to-day technical execution; stabilizing and building leadership benches through coaching, hiring, and organizational design; establishing a single source of truth for definitions, models, and platform outputs; treating data as a product with clear quality standards; breaking data-quality problems into concrete business use cases rather than abstract governance initiatives; translating ML/data science work into core value drivers (margin expansion, cost reduction, service differentiation); and shifting the business perception of data from reporting support to strategic enabler through delivered impact.
You will own what's right—definitions, models, sources of truth—and have the mandate to retire what isn't working, with CPTO backing on pace and stakeholder management. The role requires building trusted relationships with business leaders, bridging the ML literacy gap with executives, and ensuring data governance foundations support safe, commercial AI scaling. sennder's closed-loop advantage (platform, operations, data) creates a compounding edge that most competitors cannot replicate, and this role exists to sharpen that edge.
