Salary: USD 175,000 - 275,000 / annual
Corgi Insurance is building an AI financial infrastructure company focused on creating financial solutions for companies that build, own, operate, and finance AI compute infrastructure. The Head of Compute role is a strategic technical leadership position that bridges hardware engineering and financial services.
In this role, you will own three core areas:
**Compute Economics & Modeling**: You will develop and maintain Corgi's authoritative view of compute costs and value over time. This goes beyond headline numbers to include total cost of ownership analysis across hardware generations, configurations, locations, power consumption, utilization patterns, and contract structures. You will be the person who validates whether financial models hold up under scrutiny.
**Solution Design & Structuring**: Working cross-functionally with product, underwriting, and capital teams, you will design and structure financial solutions around compute assets and commitments. You translate how hardware is deployed, used, and retired into the terms, protections, and structures that financial solutions require.
**Diligence, Risk Assessment & Hardware Lifecycle**: You will evaluate opportunities by assessing the hardware and its generation, facility infrastructure, power and cooling systems, utilization history, contract terms, and operator strength. You own the company's understanding of how compute assets age, including useful life by generation, the impact of new releases, refresh cycles, and residual value at each lifecycle stage.
**Stakeholder Relationships**: You will serve as Corgi's credible technical voice with cloud providers, GPU specialists, datacenter operators, hardware vendors, and financing partners.
The ideal candidate bridges two worlds: deep technical credibility in GPU infrastructure at scale combined with commercial and financial acumen. You understand specific GPU systems (A100, H100, H200, B200, B300) and their deployment differences. You have built or run large GPU fleets and know where costs, risks, and failure modes live. You have worked on the commercial or financial side of compute—capacity contracts, cost and depreciation models, equipment financing, or investment diligence. You can explain technical details in financial terms to investors, lenders, underwriters, and executives.
Corgi is a full-stack insurance carrier building better, faster insurance products for startups. Unlike brokers, Corgi underwriters and issues policies directly, reducing handoffs and friction while enabling tailored coverage and more efficient risk pricing.
**Requirements**:
- 11+ years of experience in compute infrastructure, hardware, or related technical/financial domains
- At least 5 years leading teams or leading leaders
- Deep knowledge of GPU infrastructure at scale (A100, H100, H200, B200, B300 systems)
- Experience building or running large GPU fleets, or close working knowledge of their cost, risk, and failure modes
- Commercial or financial experience in compute: capacity contracts, cost/depreciation modeling, equipment financing/leasing, or infrastructure investment diligence
- Ability to translate technical detail into financial terms for decision-makers
- US citizen or visa holder
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate compute opportunities and explain technical soundness to investors and financial stakeholders
Useful but not required: experience at hyperscalers, GPU clouds, datacenter operators, infrastructure investing, equipment finance, project finance, insurance, national labs, or HPC centers.
